When you're on the front page of your school newspaper

One of my co-interns, Maila Arcebal, is a photographer for Ang Pahayagang Plaridel, De La Salle University-Manila's school newspaper, asked me to model for an article they're working on about milk tea. Being a frustrated model, I didn't hesitate and agreed right away! :)

Sorry, it's my first time to be in a newspaper. On the front page, for that matter. So yeah! :)

This is what made go into modeling. :)

Ph Fashion Week outfit w/ Sir Rajo Laurel

So here's a clearer picture of what I wore to the Philippine Fashion Week (Rajo + Bench show) Summer 2012. I wasn't really supposed to wear that. I planned to wear something more, uh, let's say, over the top. The night before, one of our head stylists warned us to wear something comfy since we're gonna be running around; hence, ze outfit!
Plain beige vneck tee
comfy cardi from Oxygen
carrot jean from Bench
sling bag from Oxygen
shoes from Dr. Martens
Brushed up hair for the high fashion-ish look I'm going for    -__- Did my hair on my own, btw.

With somma my co-interns :)

Rajo Uno, Rajo Dos dance craze, with the brilliant man himself, Sir Rajo Laurel!

Photos taken by Sir Nio Manzano (one of our kind bosses) :)

Seventeen: Ultimate Guide to Style

As an aspiring legit fashion stylist, I have to be credible. I have to be knowledgeable and get information, in terms of fashion styling, in every way I can. Since I am in school now, in my third year, my time’s divided. Of course, I have to focus more on my studies. But that did not and should not stop me. So I have this friend, Mandy Matias, who asked me to style her up (I blogged about her actually) and she showed and lent me this book about styling. So as I started browsing through the book, I found it interesting and helpful. I decided to get my own copy (bought mine at Fully Booked, MOA).This book stimulated my creativity, triggered my curiosity, and made me more informed about styling. I wish to find and buy a book like this for the male ones as well. So this is the book:

SEVENTEEN: Ultimate Guide to Style by Ann Shoket and the editors of Seventeen

QUESTION!
I will be reading and referring to this in the mean time. Also, I am planning to go to a fashion school within the year. Hopefully soon! Do you guys have any suggestions? Which fashion school you think is the best? :) Post your answers/suggestions below

ANTM's Allison Harvard + Style Origin's last stop in MNL

Yello! So even though I missed the chance of having my picture taken with America's Next Top Model finalist, Allison Harvard from Philippine Fashion Week, I'm so glad she went to Bonifacio High Street (Style Origin's second to the last stop in Manila) to visit one of our designers there and her very good friend, Michael Cinco.
Pardon me for my oily face and haggard look. This was right after the whole show ended! Allison Harvard is just so gorgeous! Gotta love her eyes! :)

We also got the chance to have picture with Project Runway Philippines' consultant/mentor, Mr. Jojie Lloren! Who also was a designer for that show!

With my co-interns, Rollen and Krizia.

Having said that the Style Origin's 2012 last stop are in Bonifacio High Street and Market Market, this also means that we're kinda done with our internship. <Aww :( > So yeah, it's sad but I would want to thank Ayala Mall's Style Origin for giving me this opportunity to help out, to learn, and enhance my skills in fashion styling. I gained friends, met Filipino fashion designers, and more. I won't forget all the experiences from my first ever fashion internship. This is not the last of me!

Who says only the slim can be sexy?

*My sizzer came up with the title

My voluptuous/ shrinking sister, Rhea Cheng, was one of those very firsts who gave me fashion tips back in grade school. She would always criticize what I was wearing and all. Then we became consultants of one another. And now, I am practically her consultant. ‘Cause she is already stylish enough. J A quick story, dressing her up or shopping together is our bonding time. Also food-tripping, her treat, of course!

The other night, she called me up to her room and she asked me what she can wear to her high school friend’s engagement party. So I said a black skirt and then we’ll find what top would work. Then she said she couldn’t wear black because her friend’s Chinese, so yeah. Then I came up with this outfit which compliments her body where she looked classy! But then it looked like she was going clubbing. So yet again, I had to choose another outfit. And finally!

She showed me a skirt she’d like to wear, so I looked for a pink tank, and I saw this mustard cardi which would pretty much pull off her entire outfit! The shoes were cut so I'll just describe it. She's wearing white heels with black-ish design. :)

Styling Challenge Accepted!

For this entry, I'll be blogging about a good friend of mine. This friend of mine was my former blockmate back when we were still froshies, when I was still taking up Early Childhood Education. Even though we aren't of the same course anymore, we still managed to be good friends!

She also likes to dress up. With what I have noticed from her style is that she likes to keep it plain and simple. And colorful not to mention neon and bright ones! A few months ago, she knew about my plans to become a stylist. So she asked for my help and I accepted her offer. I knew this wouldn't be that hard since she already knows how to dress up. It's just that, I have to spice it up a bit.

Last May 29, 2012, we went to her house to style her up. And here are some of the outfits I've come up with for her. And oh, everything, was in her closet! :)

Welcome to Mandy Matias' closet. And room. And house! :0

Here's the first outfit I've come up with! :) Which is a school get-up!

When you feel like you wanna be "fashion" and classy in school without overdoing it!

Tank top: Zara
Semi-high-waisted jeans: Topshop

Second outfit. Still a school get-up! Toning it down :)

Mandy wacky-ing it up! She always brightens the mood with her craziness!

Blue polo and gray tank: Tiangge in Bangkok
Pinocchio necklace: Yukie Makes Things
Headband: Call It Spring

Her third outfit! Which is a mall outfit! Since she can't wear that to school because of the dress code policy. Hitting the mall to watch a movie with her friends!

Orange sweater: Stradevarius

Short shorts, sandals: Tiangge in Bangkok
Bangle: Forever 21
Orange and Green bracelets (she said they were made of paper): Tiangge
Bag: Zara

Fourth look: When you're just eating out with your fambam or friends, you can go with this look! You'll never know, your friends always carry with them their cams!

You look so cute here in this shot, Mandy! :)

Top: Tiangge Rockwell Bazaar
Shorts: Roxy
Belt: Zara
Bag: Peridot
Shoes: Sanuk

This is where she gave me the challenge. As she was rummaging through her closet, she pulled out this black dress and said, "Here Will, I challenge you to make this dress look good!" And I was like shocked for a moment. I didn't know what was going through her mind when she bought that. So I replied, "Uh, Mandy. Why did you buy that?", while trying not to laugh. Though she was already laughing. Out loud. So she quipped while laughing her ass out, "Because it looked good in the mannequin" This is how her dress looked like!

PRESENTING....THE NOT-SO-PRETTY DRESS/The pambinyag dress :))

So when she wore this, I though putting a belt around her waist would solve the problem. So I did. IT DIDN'T WORK. So I panicked. Then I stared at her dress for a couple of minutes and came up with a bright idea!

So what did I do? First, I pulled both sides of the dress towards the back. What would be left under is the undercloth, which was see through. So I asked her to wear a short, plain black tight skirt under.

To make it look more chic, I pulled it and shaped it properly so that there will be this mini train effect!

VOILA!

Mandy's diggin' the look! Glad you liked it! :)

Dress: Bangkok
Belt: Forever21
Heels: Ramp

Most people prolly aren't aware that Mandy is an artist. A painter! Yes, she did all those. There were actually more!

"A friend in need, is a friend indeed." Mandy wasn't really a fashion disaster. She is actually very particular and picky with her clothes. There's nothing wrong with keeping it simple. As they say, "The simpler, the better".

Thank you Mandy for trusting me! :) See you around school! You're a great model :)
