MEMORIAL DAY BLOGGER TAKE OVER! INTRODUCING TAMARAH BROWN OF "MY OWN SENSE OF FASHION"

HELLO STYLISTAS!!!
Happy Memorial Day everyone.  While I'm Barbequing and enjoying my mini me, Tamarah has taken over N.E.C. Style to give you guys some Memorial Day fashion tips.

Take it away Tamarah....(bag over shoulder and throwing my duce's up)

Today is Memorial Day. In addition to being an important day of remembrance for those who served in the military also is the unofficial start of the Summer season.   Summer may not officially start until June 21st  ,but there is no better time than now to start to thinking about summer wear.   If you need a little help in this department than you’ve come to right place.  Check out some of my favorite finds below that are sure to be part of your summer wardrobe.
1.       Hats

A great sun hat is the perfect accessory whether you are chilling by the pool or on the beach.

2.       Sunglasses

You can’t go wrong with a great pair of go-to Sunnies or two.

3.       Sundresses

Sundresses are a great option to wear to the next Summer party, or BBQ and any other chosen event.

4.       Rompers

Rompers are great casual look that you can rock during the day or night.

5.       Swimsuits

Whether you like one-piece, bikini or even a swim dress pick out your favorite style before you head out on your vacation or staycation.

6.       Shorts

As the temperatures rises, shorts will be worn to several different events and occasions.  Find the style and length you are most comfortable with and rock them.

7.   Cover ups

Lastly, on the list are cover ups.  Before you hit the water you can wear your favorite style of cover up.  You can also wear your preferred cover up at your next pool party.

With any luck your wardrobe will be more than ready for any event on your calendar this Summer.

OOTD: HOUNDSTOOTH DRESS AND PINK LEATHER (C. SIRIANO+LB OUTFIT)

HELLO MY STYLISTAS!  By now I know you guys are heading out of town to start your long weekend.  So for you guys have a safe vacay and take care of yourself.

My outfit of the day comes from the C. Siriano Collaboration with Lane Bryant.
I am so in love with this pink jacket (this is my fave shade) and was a perfect match to the heart shape neck line of this swing dress. The pattern is eye catching and amazing.  It was a bit tighter then I imagine so if you plan on getting this dress PLEASE try on.  You may need to size up as I did.

I kept in my color scheme with my make up and did an ultra fem matte pink lip.
Complement my dress with my turquoise necklace and bracelet and kept all other jewelry simple.

STYLE EYE ON: HONEYSUCKLE CLOTHING

About a month ago, while in District of Curves Fashion Week,  I saw Honey Suckle Atelier and fell in love with her designs.  I wanted to highlight the designer, Jasmine Swartz, because not only do I have my stylist eye on her but I can see her designs changing the plus size fashion industry.
Below is my interview and photos of her collection

Enjoy...

NEC: What made you want to become a designer?
Jasmine:       I started designing when I was very young because I was plus sized and lacking clothing options. Through-out the years of hearing complaints from my fellow plus sized friends about straight sizing clothing brands, as well as having my own dilemmas, I felt I had a insider advantage of what plus size women wanted & I needed to do something with that information.

NEC: When did you start Honey Suckle?
Jasmine:        I started in 2015, right after college graduation. I had been brewing up some ideas even before graduation because I knew I did not want to design under someone else's label & felt I always had great designs/shaped for the plus sized body.

NEC: How How would you describe your line?
Jasmine:    My brand is an accumulation of vintage silhouettes with modern day flare.
I always admired fashions from the late 1940's to the early 60's, and it shows through my designs. These silhouettes are extremely flattering on almost any body type and size & it can be dressed up or down depending on the personal styling.

NEC: The Plus size fashion industry is starting to be flooded with new designers.  How does Honey Suckle improve  the plus size industry?
Jasmine:  I feel my brand improves the plus size movement because it acknowledges the fact that every body is equal but not the same. Many big plus size brands today still fail to realize this.  They offer very little options to the plus size bodies that are not tall & hour-glassed shaped. I want to make my clothing as customize-able as possible by offering options to fit the pear shaped, busty-ier queens, tall, or short.  We offer online tailoring the garment without coming in to be measured.

NEC:  I love the garments from DC Curves.  What was your inspiration for this season?
Jasmine:      This season's inspiration was the Egyptian Queen, Cleopatra & the beautiful colors found along the Nile River. I designed an 11-piece ready-to-wear resort collection for plus sizes, which was debuted at the District of Curves Fashion Showcase back on April 23rd. I wanted to give women who needed clothing for their Spring trips or Summer get-a-ways a fun and wearable selection that would not break the bank. So the pieces are very simplistic in fabrication and construction, but the fine detailing and visual interest makes the outfits stand out & look fabulous.

Since starting, Honeysuckle has been showcased in Pink the Runway 2015(Oct. 2015) & District of Curves (April 2016)

SUMMER WEEKEND TRAVEL PACKING W. HOMEAWAY

Memorial Day is next week and with that comes the beginning of summer & my weekend getaways.
Most of my styling/blogging is done on the weekends but summer time gives me a few weeks to plan trips with the family.

My mini me and I live in an apartment so staying in a small hotel room is really not the experience want us to have when we go away. Rather its the Jersey Shore, Long Island or VA, I like to stay in homes instead of hotels. With the help of "Home Away" I find the perfect place!!!

HOMEAWAY gives you the opportunity to find homes, instead of hotels, in cities around the US and abroad.  I may spend more then a hotel but I don't have to worry about food(I have a kitchen) or being on top of each other.  Plus my experiences feel more authentic.

With my destination and weekend home booked, the next tackle is my weekend bag.   I always pack light for weekends so not to stress about what to wear.  Packing light is not easy so remember to pack essentials.  To help my fellow stylistas I'm listing my PERSONAL weekend getaway travel bag essentials. Not only are the items trendy but the foundation of what you will need for vacation.

OOTD: CAPE & CULOTTES

HAPPY FRIDAY STYLISTAS!!!!

You know I couldn't leave you without a bomb ass outfit to get you through the weekend. No better way to bring in the weekend then with these culottes.

I shot this on the banks of Brooklyn and loved every minute of it.  How great was it to have my beloved Brooklyn as the backdrop for this look.

Culottes are trending this summer.  Yes they are 80's but everything that is old is new so why not these snazzy cut of pants.  PLUS they are super comfy while still being fashionable.

Thise from LB you can dress up or down. Me, I decided to dress them professional.
Keeping in my 80's feel, I added a snakeskin blue fanny pack.  To keep it modern, I added my cape jacket (told you this will be a repeat offender) and finally some good ol fashion pumps pumps.

5 BEAUTY ITEMS YOU WILL NEED THIS SUMMER

Summer is slowly approaching!!!!
I know my fashionistas are getting their closet together for an epic summer but what about your beauty regiment?

Summer time calls for a complete upgrade on your beauty products AND Im going share some of mine with you.  All of my items are drug store or easy online buys (I really don't have time for anything else).  I know you all are busy so these are easy as well as affordable. ENJOY!!!!

1. Pantene Damage Detox
Sumer time I sweat like crazy. Also I build up oils in my hair faster as I use more products.  The Damage Detox formula will keep your hair looking great even when your washing you hair more than you do in the winter.  The rehab cream I use once every two weeks with my other hair treatments to give my hair bounce and shine.

2. Jergens Natural Glow
Use this to give your arms and legs a sun kiss look.  Yes it works with darker skin tone and use it all the time to make my hand look sun kissed.  Skin needs more moisture then most....use the daily moisture fomular instead

3. Color Tattoo eye color
Summer equal sweat which for me equal runny makeup.  I use the color tattoo on my eye lids in the summer because it stays on no matter what.

 4. The Nudes by Maybelline

I am a slave to all three NUDES color pallets but the blush would probably work best for the summer time.  Colors are lighter and more reflective then the sister pallets.  But if you never tried then get all three.  at 7-10 each its a STEAL

5. 1 step gel Nail Polish from Wet-n-Wild

My hands are my biggest accessory when meeting with women and men and on style shoots.  Recently I was sent the full line of gel nail polish and thought maybe this will work for me.  HONEY....they are amazing for the price.  They rage from 4-6 (depending on store) and last a whole week without chipping.  They are not as heavy as other formulas so no sand blasting your nails.  Also the colors are spot on for the summer time.

OOTD: SPRING FLORAL DRESS

HEY GIRL HEY!!!!
It was a struggle to get the sun to shine over NYC for a few weeks.  My mood kind of fell off so taking pictures while its cloudy or rainy was not exciting to me. I felt more like London in fall then New York in Spring.  So much rain it was hard to accept it was spring.

Was so thankful for the sun coming out that my floral A-line dress HAD to go on.

When I got this dress I thought it would be great for Mothers Day (incase my Mini had somewhere she wanted us to go)  but it also reminded me of 60's housewives.  So I decided to keep the makeup simple but go with a bold fire red lipstick.

I love the print and the vibrant color. The size was a bit too big but fixe that right up by taking the advice of a very smart designer Robert E. Knight, and added a thin belt. S

Spring calls for cooler evening so I always keep my leather draped just in case.

CHRISTIAN SIRIANO/LANE BRYANT RUNWAY SHOW AND THE EMPOWERING WOMEN SUMMIT

Yesterday, I was rooftop of the United Nations watching the most beautiful collection from one of my most beloved designer and my most loved brand.

After a bit of confusion as to what building to head too, a long maze of clearance (this is the UN!!!) and a "I just love you" to plus male model Zack Miko, I walked out to NYC sky line, bright sunshine and a beautiful grass runway.

PHOTO VIA ESTRELLA FASHION REPORT
In NEC WORLD,  I was running late so I had very little time to take photos of celebrities/stylist BUT here are a few
