NYFW FINAL SHOW: SMART GLAMOR FALL 2016

photo from smartglamour.com
The final show I attended for NYFW was the Smart Glamour fashion show for their Fall collection.  The show started with a video of the models talking about model inclusion and body positivist.  It was an emotional video filled with truth.  It was refreshing to see women of all shapes , sizes and races expressing themselves in the most raw way.
After the video finished the fashion show began.  The collection was filled with color and surprises.  From mix material dresses jumpers that are perfect for the office to statement bomber jackets the collection was in one word Bold.
The great thing that I learned was that all items start at a size small and go up to a 6XL.  Also items can be custom made to fit your body to a tee.

Here are some of the outfits that I absolutely loved from the collection....

Can you believe these are jumpers!!!

NYFW: J. CREW READY TO WEAR PRESENTATION SS'17

Fashion week is well over but I had to share with you the J. Crew presentation for fashion week.

I am a huge fan of production fashion shows but sometimes all you need is great clothes and great models. Wouldn't you agree?
Presentation allow you to get up and close on the clothing which was a great change from seeing fashion runways for the past few days.

The Presentation was laid out in such a way that you got a chance to get up close and personal with the models and you got to see the designer vision.  Models were wearing layered, simplistic yet functional clothing for everyday life.  With that everyday life came the "everyday" models.  J. Crew has partake to the grown trend of using models that are like the customers that buy the collections.  With minimal makeup and hair the models looked like your everyday women or man (but the most beautiful everyday women and men).

Model diversity is something that is really important to me so to see women and men of all races was a big hit for me.  There was even a pregnant model!!!! Plus size models you ask?....can be sure. (baby steps first I guess....)

ok back to the fashion...

With black, white, camel, navy and khaki being the foundation to the collection, you can say there was a call back to the basic.  Even with the colors being basic, the designer made statement through the architecture of the clothing and the accessories. Polka Dot, stripe, plaid and splatter paint filled the collection as far as patterns.  The collection was not void of color.  Light blue, and pink was present in the collection. The light colors let us know this is a spring collection still.

The collection was a great representation of where the designer was looking toward for the future.  I really enjoyed the wide leg pink pants and wide cuff shirts for the women wear.  I also loved  the strait leg suits and plaid jacket for the mens wear.  Well thought out and lovely collection

FALL 2016 SHOE TRENDS

Fall is my favorite time of season.  I feel that fashion in fall is more fun don't you think?  I know I am a snow bunny and love the cooler air but there is something about fall fashion that everyone seems to love.
I have been looking through my retailers and have seen some amazing shoes for the fall.  With so many new trends I thought I break down some categories of shoes you MUST have in your closet this Fall.
Don't worry....all of these shoes come in wide width and most come up to a size 13!!!

Tall boots for the fall is all about the detail.  Deconstructed leather, denim, suede and even chunky heels are in every retailer for shoes there is.
My favorite is the over the knee suede boots from Eloquii (first shoe on the left).  Its so sophisticated and fun I can see all types of women wearing it.  AND....if over the knee is not your style, it can be worn as a tall boot as well.

Short boots or booties can give you a boot feel without it being too tall.  This season Booties are mostly stacked heel with a 90's feel to them.  Booties already give you a wester feel but with  the infux of the rolled pants leg booties went super slick and fashionable so you will be able to show them off.

My fave is this cute number from nordstrom.com

These shoes are all fall.  A higher cut shoe but with cut out to the back and toe makes it sexy.  But don't think you just gonna wear these open toe.  I have see them paired with colorful or textured tights to give them a new life as the temperature starts to dip.
If you like a close toe shootie try these from fullbeauty.com

Metallics have returned for another seasons.  Silver seems to be the most trending color but you will find all kind of shinny metallic colors at your local department shoe store.

MARY JANES
We all know that the 90's are back this year and with that comes Marry Janes.  I have had a love hate relationship with this type of shoes (comes from wearing them for school in the 90's) but I do see the love for them.  With an array of colors and fabrics you can find one that fits your style.
Most come with a chunky or wedge.  Tassle or flat.   But, always they are a class all its own.

This shoe, inspired by menswear, is a great way to keep your look casual but funky at the same time.  I love oxfords and everything they represent.  With lines being blurred between men and womens fashion, the oxford is something men and women can wear and both be fashionable.  Just don't wear matching oxfords.

RETRO SNEAKERS w. EVERYTHING

Adidas, Pumas, Hi tops...you name it its back.  Nothing says retro like a pair of Classics 3 stripe Adidas or the retro all white Reboc.  I dont know if it was the film "The Get Down" or  the mini series "The Breaks" but we all back in love with eveyrthing from late 80's-early 90's
Pair your adidas with a shirt or dress or ripped denim....it doesn't matter.  They are being worn with everything and everyone can get in on them.

NYFW: STYLE FASHION WEEK SS' 17

Style Fashion Week New York wrapped up on Saturday, September 10th.  Style Fashion Week brought in a total of 20,000 guests over three days for 18 different designers.
The  three day show opened with a Native American Designer who brought culture and heritage to the runway. Some of the designers who show were Orlando Dugi, Project Runway alumni Patricia Michaels,  Janay Deann and Ydamys Simo, Akiyo Hirakubo of Bradelis New York to name a few.
The shows was a mix of different styles ranging from exquisite formal wear to resort to mens to kids.  I loving going to this show because I come away with a new designer to follow and love until next season. The Manhattan Center was filled with bloggers, photographers, from all over.  I met some bloggers from as far as Austria!!!

My fave designer was Danny Nguyen’s ready-to-wear spring/summer collection.   The collection was white and gold exquisite designs dress with gold lace long gloves.  Why you guys see me sporting long lace gold gloves you will know why!!!

Designer "Bound by the Crown" used australian model, Madeline Stuart, the first model with Down syndrome to walk down the runway

All in all the designers and models were amazing. Lighting was amazing and the show kept me wanting more.  Can not wait to attend this show next season.
Here are more pictures from the show below.

NYFW: CHRISTIAN SIRIANO+ LANE BRYANT FALL COLLECTION PRESENTATION

"What's really great about the collection is we're really celebrating a variety of things on the runway today,"
"We're celebrating color and vibrancy and diversity and lots of women can really wear these clothes."
C. SIRIANO

With the American CDFA award winning designer having plus size models in his NYFW show, Siriano is turning the fashion world eyes towards the plus size women.
I've know the designer to always push for models of every shape, size, color and nationality.  Very happy that he is getting everything he always wanted and making the industry take notice.

Coming off of his well received  private label showing, Lane Bryant gave a party for people to see and speak to the designer and celebrate  the newest collection with Lane Bryant.
