Summer Chafing Solution with UnderSummers

Every Summer the dressed chafing issue that come along with bare legs is something I have to face every year.  Im always on the look out for new products that not only product my skin but it also easy to wear and fashionable.  There are tons of products on the market but a lot of the spray or rub on items work well until I am wearing silk or satin then I get stains on my clothing.   There are also bands and other under garments but they rather fit too loose or feel like they are sliding down or riding up.
Needless to say finding something that is not messy, fits great, and protects me all day against chaffing that doesn't increase my body temperature is not easy.  I was combining different items together in order to get the protection I needed. It was not idea but it was my only solution.

This summer, I found a whole new product that works for me.  A company is called Undersummer and I came across them on my Instagram.   I thought "what the hell!!! There is no harm it trying out something new!!!"   Thank God I did!!!

First a little bit about Undersummer.  CarrieRae created the "shortlette", as she calls it. out of her own need for comfortable rash protection under skirts and dresses.  Living in Houston TX, she knew she has to create a fabric that was breathable as well as absorbable to fight against the Texas humidity. She was sick of cutting of her panty hoes, ill fitting shape wear, and bulky short under her dresses and skirts.

I receive two different type of shorts.  One was with a lace detail high thigh and the second was the classic slip short.  First,  the lace shortlette color and style was so cute I found myself lounging around in them.  Usually when I am getting dress I wear a larger shirt until I put my dress on.  But with this, I found them so stylish that I didn't need to put something over them.  They just looked like I was wearing shorts.

The classic shortlette, was also very comfortable and maybe a bit too comfortable.  As soon as I put them on I felt like I was wearing nothing.  I was a bit afraid that they would role at the leg or fall at the waist as I walked but it didn't. They didn't move.  The were so good I kind of forgot I was wearing them.

I find myself lounging in Undersummer without a care in the world.  They are stylish and comfortable enough to where I didn't feel like I am wearing undergarments but a cute short pants.  I decided to snap some photos to show how great they worked for me.

I am so happy to have found this product.  I can see me wearing it not only in the summer but thought the winter to.  If you want to try Undersummer for yourself click here . Plus Undersummer is giving all my stylistas a discount.  Just add code THANKS20 to get 20% off your first order.

BANDELETTES & ALL BLACK EVERYTHING

Founders of Bandelettes with Ashley N. Tipton

Recently I was invited to the launch of the Bandelettes event hosted by Ashley Nell Tipton.
Bantelettes is the simple accessory for the solution to thigh chafing.  Chafing is experience by most women, regardless of size.  It is an embarrassing subject to talk about but thanks to the founders of Bandelettes their is a simple and pretty solution to the problem.

The product is a lace or microfiber band with a silicone backing to prevent rolling down.  It goes around the thigh to protect the thighs from rubbing together.  They look good under dresses and even short pants.  I spoke about them in my "Way to prevent Chafing" post last year and purchase a few myself.

The launch was to introduce a new product in their line, the Bandelettes short.  Instead of  just fabric band this is a full short pants you can pull on to protect more of you thighs from chafing.  I am super SUPER excited about this new product and cant wait for it to be available.  Will post a link once the shorts are made available.

The view from the roof top was amazing.  I had to snap a photo or two of myself.  It was a bit cooler but for me it was just the right temperature.  This all black everything is a staple look for NYC.  I love being in all black so this Bomber Jacket is an excellent add to my closet.  Expect to see more of it very soon.

Got a chance to chit chat with Ashley while she was in NYC hosting this event.  She is just the same as she was before her Project Runway Win.  We talked about everything under the sun!!! Was so nice to reconnect with her.  Love her!!!

MY SOLUTION TO SUMMER CHAFING

CHAFING, CHUB RUB, THE BURN...whatever you call it its a problem for most women. I use to think it was only a problem for the plus size women but I've learned that most women suffer from some kind of chafing in the summer. Rather its between the legs, under the bust or the bikini area, chafing is suffered by a large amount of women.

O know this can be an embarrassing subject to talk about but is something I've had to deal with and know women are looking for simple solutions.  I've dealt with this my WHOLE life so does that make me an expert? Maybe.  For so many years I didn't know how to combat chaffing issues and still have some reminder scars of when I didn't take care of my skin.  I hope by sharing my tips I help someone else prevent the pain and scars that I went through so they don't have to.

There are three things to remember when dealing with Chafing:
 PREVENTION, TREATMENT & PROTECTION

Prevention
Most of the blog and articles I see talk mostly about prevention  products so I won't touch too much on this.
For me, I like to use deodorant or powder

As a plus size kid, powder was a huge part of my daily routine. (I should have taken stock in baby powder with the amount I used as a kid.) Powder helped to cool and keep the skin dry so chaffing didn't happen. The problem was that it would get on my clothes and all over the floor.

As an adult,  I use/love the Monistat Powder Gel. It's not thick and not so greasy so its perfect. This is new to my list but this product is really good if your use to powder.

A nice solid deodorant stick was my go too for inner thigh chafing.   Not only does it allow you to stay dry but also release a great smell.  The only downfall was that it could leave white residue on your clothes (like most deodorant).  Recently I switch to  Degree Dry Spray.  Its quicker, cleaner and has different scents that release extra protection when you sweat. PLUS, no white residue.

Treatment
Once chafing has happened it is IMPORTANT to go through the process of treatment. It can leads to more skin problems and even infection.
You should clean the area first then apply an ointment.

At www.top10homeremedies.com I found a few natural products to help sooth chafing.

Another choice is diaper rash cream.   I have used A+D Zinc Oxide cream but my new love is Monkey Butt Ointment.  It has a nice smell and is not thick.

3. Protection
The best protection is to keep the skin from rubbing anymore while it heals.

For breast,  I use Bra lines.  They can wrap around you and snap like your bra or can attach to your bra.

For thighs,  you have a choice of  shorts (microfiber is the best fabric choice) or fabric band

If your like me and find shorts to be too warm or bulky, fabric band is the way to go.  My favorite brand is Bandalettes.  Ranging in size from 2-24, from lace or microfiber, from white to flesh tone (even for darker skin).  These bands are the best and do not roll down like other.  They are super light and cant be seen (even under body con dresses).

These tips are not only for summer but all year long. I hope this was helpful to you all.
