BEST OF MET GALA 2018

It's the first week of May so you know that that means....its time for The MET Gala.  I wait all year for the best, most fascinating red carpet event of the year.  As a fashion history enthusiast, this is a religious event and this year I mean that quite literally.  The theme of the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Exhibit  is called "Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination".

This exhibition shows how Catholicism, Vatican and the Pope have influence fashion throughout the years.  The exhibit is made up of 150 garments with 50 of those garments and accessories loaned from the Vatican.  Needless to say, the Vatican had put its stamp of approval on this exhibit.  Other designers next to these Vatican loans are Versace, Gabanna, Chanel and Valentino.

But enough about the exhibit.  Lets get down to what all of you are waiting for....THE FASHION!!!!

Here are the celebrities that took the "crown" of the MET Gala.

Lets not count them men out.  They bought fashionable menswear to the Gala as well.

Here are a few honorable mentions. These looks were beautiful, just not MET Gala beautiful.

I LIVE for the MET Gala and can not wait for 2019!

On the first day of Christmas my Fashion Fairy gave to me....

Thanksgiving and Chill-e Sweater
I love wearing a cozy knit sweater for Thanksgiving.  This year I hosted at my house and I wanted to wear something comfortable but cute.  (I am the style blogger of the family...have to live up to the hype).

This off the shoulder sweater was PERFECT!!! I wore it slightly off the shoulder and love that the sweater allowed for some versatility.  The tall swede boots and leggings were a perfect match to keep the look comfy but cozy.  I needed minimal makeup and jewelry for this look (don't want to look too done up) but make sure I added a little bling in my cocktail ring.

I had a great time this Thanksgiving and got a chance to really laugh with my family.  This was a successful Thanksgiving outfit.

THE CURVY CON: DIA & CO FASHION SHOW

Plus-size beauties ruled the runway at theCURVYCon’s first-ever fashion show, a stylish celebration of body diversity. TheCURVYCon’s, body-positive convention was conceived by plus-size bloggers Chastity Garner and Cece Olisa, had its first fashion show in the three years since its start. The fashion show, hosted by plus-size style subscription service Dia & Co, featured designs by Rachel Roy, Rebel Wilson, Molly & Isadora, Nanette Lepore, and Girl With Curves, just to name a few.

Over 20 model including, Liza Golden, Precious Lee, and Marquita Pring hit the catwalk alongside WWE wrestler Nia Jax, and curvy YouTube vlogger Loey Lane.

This was my first plus size show of the season and I'm very happy to say it wasn't my last. The fashion on the runway was good and stylish but I wanted more.  Truthfully, I am use to more fashion forward clothing during fashion week but I do realize the purpose of this show was to highlight fashion designs that women would by able to purchase right now.   With that in mind, and the idea that their was a time that plus size fashion was not even available during fashion week, the show was great.

I thought the models did a very good job and was happy to see women of all different sizes, shape and ethnicity.

The Curvy Con was a two-day event September 8th to 9th in New York City was a bonanza of style, group workouts, and body-positive dialogue aimed to promote inclusivity in the fashion industry. If you missed it you can read up (and maybe see some photos) on yahoo style. Click Here
