TV5 Guesting: Back to School Fashion

Last May 31, 2013, I was given the chance to share my knowledge in styling with every Filipino people. As a part of my interview, I explained why I picked that certain look for each model. I was the one who styled the guys (special thanks to Flying Dutchman and Skull Candy) and I co-styled with Ash Aquino for the ladies.

Due to time constraint, I had to narrow down my explanation on national television. Fortunately, I have this blog where I can explain fully what I was supposed to say that time!

Look for model #1

This look is more of fashionable look where one could use it for school and can still party or hit the mall after school!

A printed polo top, pastel jeans, brown shoes, and a backpack (all from Flying Dutchman)

Look for model #2

Since we are in a country where the sun always says hi, I opted for a “chill” look, probably one of the best ways to beat the heat.

A tank top, a (unbuttoned) polo, a pair of shorts, loafers (Flying Dutchman) and beats (from Skull Candy)

Look for model # 3

Print on print! Very trendy! These are for the gals who feel like dressing up to school. There should be no reason for you to stress out when matching print on print. It’s about being creative, funky, and fresh!

Look for model #4

This is a more comfortable wear for the ladies. A flowy dress paired with wedges! Tip: Make sure not too much skin is shown (at least an inch for the straps, and please, no cleavage) Remember, you’re going to school not to a party. Show your legs! But if you plan on going short, the dress should have 2-3 inches gap between the end of your dress (skirt or shorts) from your knee.

#1 Fashion Must-Haves for Men: Pants

Finally, I have been meaning to blog about menswear for a very long time now. Now, to all my male readers, get ready to have all the items you will be needing in your closets! Anyway, I would not want to prolong this anymore.

The #1 fashion must-haves for men, for me, are good pairs of pants. Investing on good pair/s of pants could pretty much go a long, long a way. (A trivia, my dad has this Levi's pants which he had almost 15 years ago which he still have until now) But which kinds of pants? Here are the top 3 pants on my list which you ought to have!

1. First, a good pair of straight cut denim jeans. Straight cut jeans never go out of style! It's truly a must-have.

These are from Bench.

2. Second, a pair of slim cut jeans.
These kinds of pants are "in" right now and they also never go out of style.

One of my slim cut jeans came from Oxygen.

These pair of slim cut jeans are from Lee.

3. Third, if you are up for a more modern and stylish look, then skinny jeans could be those pair of pants you're looking for. Slim cut jeans especially skinny jeans make your legs look leaner and longer.

The light denim jeans are from Levi's and the darker one's from Uniqlo.

There you go! Your first fashion musthaves! Remember, a pair of branded jeans could be quite expensive but make sure if they are, they'll last for a long time.

Fashion Must-haves for MEN. Soon. + What to watch out for in my blog this year

Initially, this blog I made last year was supposed to be mainly about male fashion and my fashion styling portfolio & internships, and fashion events I attend to. But I wasn't able to fully cater to the gentlemen out there, since women are the ones who seem to consult me more.

This year, it's gonna be different! Due to requests and suggestions, I will try to blog more about MENSWEAR or fashion for men. First on my list, fashion must-haves for men! Each entry will have at least one fashion must-have! (I hope to publish my first entry tomorrow) And, there will be a lot more entries for the must-have menswear. So better watch out!

Also, in the following months, like what I did to my good friend Mandy (in one of my blog entries), I will crash one of my friend's closet and style him up and help him with what to wear on such events or happenings! In short, helping how to style one's self.

Gals, don't be worried. Rest assured, I will still blog about female fashion!

LASTLY, I will finally have my blog professionally designed and programmed all for your comfort! So there is definitely a lot to watch out for in my blog! :)

AND, I have much more plans for my blog and for you my readers! I just don't want to preempt it! :)

Battlefield: ECES Party / fashion show

Last December 1, 2012 the Electronics Communication Engineering Society (ECES) of DLSU-Manila held a party at the Clamshell Tent in Intramuros with a military-themed party entitled, Battlefield.

Two of my friends invited me to be a stylist for their fashion show. But right on the day of the event, I became the fashion stylist, a model, and the runway director for the event!

Good thing I had a little knowledge and experience on both modeling and choreographing. :))

The first part of the fashion show was the opening wherein the female will work their stuff on the runway in tanks, jackets, cut-offs, and heels. I styled these ladies in such a way that they will show skin (but not too much) and made them do a strong but sexy walk to show toughness, class, and sophistication.

For the second part of the fashion show, the models were wearing pieces from Lee, one of the major sponsors of the event. For this segment, I mixed and matched all the items given by Lee! This should also convey a military-denim theme (I based it from the trend this year)

After the event, I was called on stage for a quick interview on why I styled the models this way and what inspired me to do so.

I just said briefly, as the stylist of the show, two of this year's trend from the Philippine Fashion Week, which was military and denim, inspired me. I combined both, and made it wearable for school especially to the students of DLSU so they'll have an idea on what to wear.

There was of course, Mr. and Ms. Battlefield!

And oh, I styled the lady/host on the rightmost. On the spot ;) Which turned out to be her challenge for me :)

I would also like to thank this people and the rest of ECES for a job well done :) Congrats guys!

Lesley Mobo : Ph Fashion Week Spring Summer 2013

Another break was given to me as an assistant stylist when I was asked to work for the London-based Filipino fashion designer, Lesley Mobo. From what I heard and I have observed, this event was a very, very private event. Not like the usual PFW shows wherein there are VIPs and random people get invited. But for the finale of the Philippine Fashion Week Spring Summer 2013 was different, Lesley Mobo’s show gave personal invites to the bigwigs of fashion (i.e. prominent fashion designers, celebrity fashion stylists, and so on)

Here are some of the things we, the Noel Manapat styling team, have prepared prior to the event.
