Fashion Magazine Best of 2018

As a blogger, and an all around fashion enthusiast, I still purchase physical magazines every so often.

Magazines has always been my escape from reality so even thought I have online subscription, I still like to purchase a magazine and thumb through the pages.

There is nothing like thumbing through a magazine on a Sunday morning while sipping over priced coffee in Gentrified Brooklyn.  lol

This year I found I'd purchasing more magazines then years before.  With way too many magazines on my table, I thought it would be nice to close out 2018 with a best of.

Here are my Best Fashion Magazine Covers of 2018.  They are in order of when they came out only.

January: Lupita For American Vogue
Balance on a surfboard in a sequin swimsuit/gown and call it Wellness...yes please. I just love her and how she rocks her natural short hair with no issues

March Allure -Speaking of Hair...

Maybe it was Black Panther coming out  and all the hype behind the natural hair and deeply African positive representation the movie bought but I was very happy to see Lupita again and with a crown of braid and beads.  YES QUEEN!!!!

July: Curvy Women Vogue Arabia

Haven women of a certain size on the cover of Arabia magazine was a great step in a positive direction for women in the Middle East.  Was very happy to see all bodies in all shapes being represented.

August: Travis+Kyle+GQ=Internet breakdown

I could not escape this photos for weeks!!! It maybe be simple, sexy and not ground breaking but it was one to be remembered for 2018 all because the internet wouldn't let me.

September: Naomi for Vogue Paris, Rianna for Vogue British and Beyonce for Vogue US

Everyone in fashion knows that September is the biggest Issues for all Magazines.  Vogue get so big its commonly known as "The Bible".  I say all this so you understand ground breaking reliant of Beyonce being Editor and Chief of this edition.  I am not a Bey-Hive-er but I do recognize the importance of her  being the editor of such an monumental issue.  Also for her being the first to have a black photographer shoot the cover of Vogue.
Also this was the first time three black women grace three different magazines for September Issues.
What a month

November: Zoe Kravitz Rolling Stone & Ellis Ross for In Style US

These women show that second generation of famous Fathers and Mothers are just as great!!!

December : Michelle Obama Elle US

If you forgot about the Icon Fashion living legend, and former first Lady, Michelle Obama you gonna remember her know.  With a best selling book and fashion to boot, she is here to show us that the White House is not  the end.  What a great way to close out 2018.

Hope you all enjoyed my list.  Cant wait to see you all in 2019.  Happy New Year....

12 DRESSES OF CHRISTMAS LOOK 12 NEW YEARS SHINE

On the 12th day of Christmas my Fashion Fairy gave to me.....

My New Years Eve Outfit

We are a few hours away from 2018 and what a year it was.  I like to say 2017 was the year of change.  I saw so many people in my life change something in their life.  From babies, to jobs, to engagements I saw so much growth in 2017.  Lets hope it Keep it going for 2018 right?

For this outfit I decided to go with pink and green.  I love pink so want to wear it for the New Year and green is a lucky color to wear on new years so thought this sequins green would be great way to wear this lucky color.

I fell in love with the coat the moment I saw at Simply Be Holiday Party.  I love how fluffy and warm it is.  I just had to have it!!!! Plus I will definitely come in handy tonight with the temperature being so cold.  It is like the most fashionable throw cover and it was so so hard to take off.

The thing I loved about this skirt was its ability to become black and the sequins changed color.  So if you see a black sequins skirt you know what happened. (#swipeleft) lol

2017 was a great year for me and I cant not be more happy with the results.  I gain some new friends, old friendships were tested, hosted some online stuff, had a campaign or two, gained a masters degree, gained a new job, grew my network and so many more goals were accomplished I cant name them all (I REALLY CAN'T).
I am truly excited for 2018 and cant wait for you all to join me in 2018!!!

HAPPY NEW YEARS STYLISTAS!!!

Oh almost forgot...

12 DRESSES OF CHRISTMAS LOOK 7: NOT SO LITTLE BLACK DRESS

On the 7th day of Christmas my Fashion Fairy Gave to me.....
A not so little black dress

This dress has a great feel look and style to it that is sexy yet sophisticated.  I fabric is incredibly soft and the skit is so sex.  When I walk you get to see that peekaboo thigh that is the right amount of sexy.

The back of the dress is completely out with a tie.  Isn't that just cute!!!! The high low is great for women who have a larger bottom then top but also great for taller women ad the dress flows.

I added red shoes and a black purse with statement earrings to complete the look!!!

On the 5th day of Christmas my fashion fairy gave to me....

Pleated leather skirt and Bird Shirt w. Dia & Co. FB live

On Monday, I had the pleasure of talking with Dia & Co on fashion how to handle family member during the holidays.
As I am doing "12 Dresses of Christmas" and Dia was doing "12 days of Dia", it was a great way to bring the two worlds together.

Along with our host Ashby, I was chatting next to some amazing women. The panel consist of Jessica Torres and Kayla who works for Dia. Also, artist Jonquel was drawing two winners of our FB live. How great is that?

For this event outfit I decided to wear an outfit ready to go from work to fun. I love this outfit because it worked perfect for my office but was able to work well on camera.

JIBRI FALL 2017 COLLECTION

AHHH!!!!!
That's the sound I made when I saw Jibri launched her fall 17 collection.

The collection had some signature pieces from the designer like flight pants and high waist strait pants.
I was very impressed with the gold and green color palette and the influx of velvet.
But don't think this collection at all was predictable.  There were some garments that had me clutching my pearls.
Here are a few items from the collection I am loving.

Summer Chafing Solution with UnderSummers

Every Summer the dressed chafing issue that come along with bare legs is something I have to face every year.  Im always on the look out for new products that not only product my skin but it also easy to wear and fashionable.  There are tons of products on the market but a lot of the spray or rub on items work well until I am wearing silk or satin then I get stains on my clothing.   There are also bands and other under garments but they rather fit too loose or feel like they are sliding down or riding up.
Needless to say finding something that is not messy, fits great, and protects me all day against chaffing that doesn't increase my body temperature is not easy.  I was combining different items together in order to get the protection I needed. It was not idea but it was my only solution.

This summer, I found a whole new product that works for me.  A company is called Undersummer and I came across them on my Instagram.   I thought "what the hell!!! There is no harm it trying out something new!!!"   Thank God I did!!!

First a little bit about Undersummer.  CarrieRae created the "shortlette", as she calls it. out of her own need for comfortable rash protection under skirts and dresses.  Living in Houston TX, she knew she has to create a fabric that was breathable as well as absorbable to fight against the Texas humidity. She was sick of cutting of her panty hoes, ill fitting shape wear, and bulky short under her dresses and skirts.

I receive two different type of shorts.  One was with a lace detail high thigh and the second was the classic slip short.  First,  the lace shortlette color and style was so cute I found myself lounging around in them.  Usually when I am getting dress I wear a larger shirt until I put my dress on.  But with this, I found them so stylish that I didn't need to put something over them.  They just looked like I was wearing shorts.

The classic shortlette, was also very comfortable and maybe a bit too comfortable.  As soon as I put them on I felt like I was wearing nothing.  I was a bit afraid that they would role at the leg or fall at the waist as I walked but it didn't. They didn't move.  The were so good I kind of forgot I was wearing them.

I find myself lounging in Undersummer without a care in the world.  They are stylish and comfortable enough to where I didn't feel like I am wearing undergarments but a cute short pants.  I decided to snap some photos to show how great they worked for me.

I am so happy to have found this product.  I can see me wearing it not only in the summer but thought the winter to.  If you want to try Undersummer for yourself click here . Plus Undersummer is giving all my stylistas a discount.  Just add code THANKS20 to get 20% off your first order.
