NY FASHION WEEK: STYLE FASHION WEEK 3 DAY EVENT

Style Fashion Week opened this season at the Intrepid Museum.  This three day event held designs for men, women, kids, couture and even underwear.  Some of the designers included  were Ionica, Jessie Zhao, Marco Marco, Romeo Hunte, Adriana Sahar, Eddie Eddie by Billy Tommy, David Tupaz and Honee just to name a few.  


Not only was there fashion but also performances by  Symon and Rilan,  Christine W, Amanda Holley, Mikhayla Hughes- Shaw.

Here are some highlights from this three day event fashion show.

Dress: Eloquii

I had such a great time and was super inspired by all the creatives in the house.  Also having a fashion show in one of NYC most iconic museums was just the icing on the cake.  

BIRDS AND BLOGGERS: MEET TWO NEW FRIENDS

My first new friend I picked up while I was in DC a few months back, at the Eloquii Popup Shop. I had such a great shopping experience that I made a video. of my try on experience in store (click here to see video).
This birds and stripe full skirt was one of my many reason for venturing out to the store.  I was so happy to get this bird print skirt as I was eye balling it for sometime and it scratched my bold print itch for the spring.

I love bold prints!!! They give a pop of different in a very same and drab fashion you see on the street everyday.
Yes you have to be a certain kind of person to wear this skirt...I am that person.  Bold, daring and fun.  Plus....THEY"RE BIRDS!!!! Who doesn't like birds

 I added the Eloquii silver studs lapel shirt with a skinny belt.  A few small accessories and that was it.  I just let the skirt rock!!! No need to over accessories, except for the shades.
The shades I also picked up from Eloquii pop up shop.  They w fit my face perfect.  The fit is so good I may have to get a few more.  All my stylistas with a wide face knows how hard it is to get glasses that work with our faces.  Thanks again to Eloquii for looking out for us.

My second friend is an actual person.  lol

I got a chance to speak to another blogger Mr. E.  His blog, My2x4closet, is a peak into lifestyle and style of a millennial trying to make in in these NYC small apartments.   He is just starting out in the blogging word (how cute!!!) and  we chatted for a bit about blogging as a business vs a hobby.

I love how new he was to blogging and how much fun I could see he was having.  It was refreshing to talk to someone blogging from menswear suppose to plus size blogging.  At the end I found out, the grind is not as different as I thought. Don't be surprise to see more of Mr. E  on N.E.C. Style.

NYFW: THOM BROWNE SS17 WOMEN COLLECTION

Just when I think Thom can not surprise me anymore he does it again.  

Thom is one of my fave designers and I always await his dark colors of grey black and red to give me life.  The colors this season were bright colors of aqua orange and yellow? What? Thom Browne who gave us 1950's Gothic Catholic nurse is now giving us Mrs. Roper?  I sat on the edge of my seat because I knew it was about to get interesting.

The show starting with women in balloon caftans, head wraps and matching oversize bags all in an oversize paisley print.  I instantly knew this was gonna have a "Good Vibration" kind of feel to it.  The colors was classic 1970's psychedelic beaches of California.  With loud paisley prints and models walking and smiling I couldn't help but smile myself. 

The show quickly became quintessential Thom. The models were joined by what I can only describe as a "disco dog" and the women disrobed and showed the designers underneath.  Models got in a strait line and walked ever so slowly giving us all time to take in the designs. 

The collection has multi layers as Throm is known for but was highly colorful.  This is something not known for in this designer but I like it.  There wasn't a slinlge solid anything in the whole collections.  Prints ranged from high contrast checker print to gingham print skirts and jackets.  

 Thom accessories also were a show in and of its self. Nothing matched.  Women toes and nails were painted different colors.  The shoes were not a matching set.  Heels gave way to anchors.  Women carrying dog bags.  The lips were of a mate aqua, white color which stood out on the sunglasses faced models. The sunglasses were of different shapes and designs, not uniform as Thom as been before. His bags has always been a favorite of mine and to see a difference in color and design really intrigued this fashion stylist.  

 As the models were done the disco dog reemerge and the models disrobed once again showing what I believe is the first in Thom Browne swimwear.  The red white and blue stripe, from his signature log, were all the women wore as the disco lights filled the room.  

This womens spring collection was a spectacular show, as always,  but was more upbeat and playful.  Im excited that Browne has shown us a more playful side to his designs.  This collection was all for show and of course none of it will be seen in store but it's great to see where the designer is headed for Spring. Cant wait to see the  actual spring collection.  But we got the vision.

NYFW: RACHEL COMEY SPRING 2017

                  

Rachel Comey started as a menswear only designer.  After women start to buy her clothes she decided to begin an womenwear wing.  Womenwear is now the brand focus but the downtown creative feel of her menswear was not lost to her womens collections.  

Today Rachel launched her spring 2017 collection not in a warehouse or in a fancy loft but on the streets on NYC.  

The collection gave me 1977 women women of the world.  It also helped that the collection models were of every race and age.  With a bit of sparkle around there eyes and very little makeup, the models took to the streets of NYC to give us all an amazing fashion show.  

Menswear is not important to Comey line but was seen in this collection.  

Comey is also well known for a mix of well crafted shoes for both sexes and I couldn't stop saying how much I wanted to change all the shoes in my collection next summer.  Flat, and tied up or 1970's stacked heel I could live in every single one of these shoes. 

The 1970's feel was culminated with the all white pant suit which had to be inspired by the 70's cult classic "Disco Fever"

 All in all the collection was a hit and I loved the use of different age models and even regular looking people.  Rachel continued to show her range and her love for the craft more then her love for the gilts and glam of the fashion show.  Was amazing for her to share her works on the street for all to see.

DLSU BMS' Time Square Fashion Bazaar

Last February 2013, I was invited by the project head of this big event to style for their series of fashion shows. This was held at the SMX convention center. 

The clothes, shoes, and accessories used for this event were from retail stores and online stores. They provided numerous pieces which were trendy! One of the reasons why I was able to mix and match items to create fresh looks wearable for school, parties, and the like!
